This was a mini-marathon around new concept I’, working out, The Closing of the American Mind 2.0. Alan Bloom wrote the fantastic book The Closing of the American Mind in 1987 where he raised the warning signs that even in the 80s relativism was shuttering our minds to true achievements of the west, and we losing our ability to discern the strong elements of our culture. As we draw nearer to our 250th Anniversary it’s becoming apparent that too few are interested in celebrating those ideals that distinguished and brought us along these past 250 years.
What is our focus? Future state. Future State with national projects are the primary measure of what is good about our society. In the vein of NASA’s Moon Landing (Kubrik theories aside) and the Manhattan project, our endeavors must be collective if we … win the 21st Century I guess? It seems we have to shut down our minds and forgo our own experiments, our own analysis of what is being constructed against our will in order to achieve greatness again. The Artificial will have primacy.
