Exactly. It’s a nightmare. 2023 the state passed a law that revoke zoning authority of the county and municipalities had over renewable energy projects. So the state can override any rejection that a county commission may raise.
I recently wrote a post about Tampon pedo Tim Walz committing MN to be 100% renewable by 2040, in 2022. I don't know if the state can override counties, but that would be in keeping with the Dem.lovers of “democracy”.
There is a lawsuit now regarding the law, it was filed just a few weeks ago. If the courts side with the state then it will be game over. We had two small towns defeat earlier initiatives, and magically Public Act 233 was passed to counter the public pushback.
I looked into it. The MN State cannot override a county or city, but the courts have stepped in in some cases and both affirmed and declined counties objecting to solar development. The State did eliminate the conditional need requirement, eliminating most of the environmental review, reducing the permitting time more than a year, and a lot of the cost. I find it curious that investors refer to them as solar farms and gardens, when it will eventually increase food prices. I would expect though, whenever dems are in power there will be the threat of what MI did.
Michigan will be the model - people here didn’t understand “zoning” and didn’t scream when our Trifecta of leftists altered the laws. The current lawsuit may dislodged the law, but I’m hugely skeptical that even the judges understand. Already Green Charter Township, where the CCP Gotion Lithium battery plant is being pushed thru, sided with Gotion in court when the new town supervisors tore up the contract. Maybe it’s a Quad-feta, I dunno.
I refuse to call them solar farms. Farms produce, solar panels are a wasteland.
One of the best clear concise explanations, lets pin this one on X
And I predict, they will not be able to replace them when the panels are failed in 20 years.

It will destroy the state.
