Our digital culture has been built on a promise of extending our awareness, increasing our connections and providing discovery at a pace never experienced by humanity.
Instead we have the tech oligarchs who have encircled us in an Algorithm Ghetto.
Algorithm Ghetto is the title of a new release by
, a singer and writer who examines the themes of media manipulation, divide and conquer tactics using AI and algorithms that herd us into silos and keep us there.Swap purpose with constant entertainment, eradicate the aggression instinct with video games, sports, turn basic life skills like fishing and hunting into hobbies (that require you to have a license?), give them “careers” to pursue that promise status, praise, and other rewards.
Give them artificial light instead of sun. Give them treadmills instead of space to roam. Give them fake competitions instead of actually having to develop themselves through cultural rites and initiations.
What If I Told You...
What drew me to Tesstamona’s work is how her songs deliver the message that I’ve struggled to bring to people for some time. She was kind enough to join me on OZFest Voices where we discussed her music, her analysis of Quiet Weapons in a Silent War, Artificial Intelligence, progenitor of Transhumanism Ray Kurzweil and Gnosticism. It was amazing for me to speak with someone who has so thoroughly researched the themes that Severed Conscience delves into. I know you will enjoy our conversation as much as I did.
On Tuesday Feb 25th Tesstamona released her remix of Algorithm Ghetto, and the open sequence has a close up off eye reflecting the image of a computer screen. The long, countless hours that we spend bathing our eyes with the blue light from our devices is not only a detriment to our physical health, we are living far too long in a world where we exercise less agency than we realize.
You can find Tesstamona’s writing at Memento Mori Alchemy on Substack. She recently published an article the summarizes the plan that Quiet Weapons describes.
