joins me to discuss his interesting take on Signalgate. In his recent article “Signalgate is a Masterclass in the Application of Useful Idiots” he points out that in the past, Useful Idiots were dupes used to unwittingly communicate messages for multiple purposes. Goldberg, and the media at large, are ignoring some elements of the Signal chat that seem at odds with how discussions are carried out. There is generally very informal language, not long paragraphs reading like policy papers, in chats as people communicate in free form fashion. Was Goldberg added knowingly so that he would run the ball and spread the message regarding policy goals?
This technique of employing a Useful Idiot for messaging need not always involve covering up mass famines and brutal authoritarian regimes such as the former USSR.
Sometimes the editor of a far-left publication can help spread the communication of foreign policy goals.
Arthur and I talk about the strange circumstances of Signalgate, as well as other geopolitical strategies that Trump must employ in a world that is abandoning a post World War II political spectrum. A great stimulating conversation that you’ll enjoy as much as I did.
