In this episode of Sunday Nights Radio, we look at what conventional wisdom constrains. My daughter’s graduation got me thinking about how sometimes facing barriers is the best stimulation, and it also made me examine this concept of phases of life. Many remarkable people throw that convention out the window, and it’s important to embrace that lesson so we can make our own way in the world.
I heard Mel Gibson say in an interview “Now that I am starting my third act”, and it made me wonder is the third act necessarily your final one? Maybe that applies to movies, books and plays, but should we think of changing gears just because we have passed one of life’s milestones? Defying what people define you as is really important.
This Sunday Nights Radio, while focused on May 1774 and transcending norms, is tied closely to an article I published on Friday on AI saving us from the awful toil of learning new things with our hobbies and artistic pursuits. There is a new norm that is promoted, and that is AI has already eclipsed us, so why bother putting forth effort when platforms can take the work of pure enjoyment.
